This is an original 1950s American made quality pink rayon nightdress with an unusual zig zag cut-out around the torso. The dress has a square lace edged neckline and lace straps with a decorative satin ribbon woven through the eyelets in the lace. There is a dainty elasticated waistband from which the dress falls into a long A-line floor length skirt. The skirt has net godet insertions to the centre at the front which gives the appearance of two slits. This is then topped by decorative ribbon ties at the highest point of the godet seam. The zigzag lace edged finish around the bottom hem compliments the torso and enhances the overall design. This piece has no openings and slips on over the head. It is a most daring piece of original lingerie and could easily be worn alone or layered with other clothing.

This full length slip is in very good vintage condition and has aged well save for some colour changes to the pink in a few locations over time. These are not stains as such and are not immediately noticeable. Otherwise the piece presents very nicely. There are no size labels but the dress will fit a UK 8 to 10, US 6-8 due to the elasticated waistband.
